Vite Write-up Campaign, Vol. 2
Vite Write-up Campaign, Vol. 2
About Our New Products and Announced Use Cases
Vite Labs is excited to know more about YOUR opinion on Vite’s recent development. We are looking for write-ups in our forum that contain profound perspectives in two areas:
- Vite products that were released in the last few months (For example, this includes new features in our wallet). Note: this is no longer about experiencing basic functions in the wallet, as was the subject of many articles entitled “My TestNet experience” for the last campaign.
- Vite use cases that have been announced. This includes partnerships as well as projects we are building internally.
We intentionally did not enumerate specific examples for the above two items. You would find them for yourselves on our forum, Medium and Twitter.
Here are the guidelines to follow for this campaign!
Timeline: February 20 — March 20
Rules:
- To participate in the Vite forum discussion, you must have a Vite address.
- The type of submissions Vite Labs will be accepting are individual post submissions in a paragraph format. Comments will NOT be rewarded.
- Each post submission MUST use #insightvite
- Remember: the topic of discussion is on Vite products and use cases.
- An eligible entry must be over 1 paragraph in length and show solid effort in its creation.
- Users can post multiple submissions as long as a NEW feature or product is being discussed each time.
- Posts and responses will be DILIGENTLY graded and judged by the quality of the writing, thoroughness of explanation, and insightfulness.
- No reward will be given for spam posts or to text with no relevance to the topic of discussion.
- Users are also encouraged to discuss products or features that are launched in midst of this campaign.
- Entries will be judged on a rolling basis, and rewards will be distributed on a weekly basis.
- All rights are reserved by Vite Labs.
Rewards:
- Each quality post submission with a mention of a Vite product/feature use case will be rewarded 300 VITE.
- The MOST INSIGHTFUL post submission and topic on the Vite forum will receive 2,000 VITE.
Best of Luck!
How To Add Your Wallet Address:
1. Click on your profile icon at the upper right-hand corner of the Vite Forum page.
2. On the left of your profile page, there should be an option listed as “Bind VITE address”.
3. Make sure to copy the text designating your Vite wallet address, not your QR code.

RE: One year after!
Thanks for your messages. I too share your frustration in various fronts, but allow me to offer some more context for our "performance":
Besides the points mentioned by @felicity and @KhunSir_Vite, I wonder if cosmetic partnerships and hackathons actually help with adoption and coin value in the long run.
On partnerships - It is unfortunately against our team's DNA to pursue meaningless collaborations, where projects "shake hands" with no real plans to work together. I don't need to name names, but there are many "prominent" projects that have gone down this path, where usage of Azure is considered "collaboration with Microsoft," and no substantive development happens after a sophisticated joint press release. I don't fault folks for being attracted to such tactics and projects that employ them, but as mentioned, our team simply isn't predisposed to such an approach.
As far as hackathons go, one of our friendly competitors spent millions of US Dollars rewarding developers to build dapps on top of their platform. They did get a large number of apps made, but retention was poor. And this effort ultimately did not translate into significant purchase of coins, or a boost in coin value, which for better or worse seems to be the ultimate metric for a project's standing these days.
We made a conscious effort to focus on the tech, and building a public chain is a truly arduous undertaking. This is why, as @nik12 correctly pointed out, that our technical development is by far among the fastest of all DAG networks. If making such trade-off of tech over marketing, and substance over fluff ultimately doesn't land us in a good place, then that is a consequence we are willing to accept.
As a refresher of our thinking on strategy - It has long become obvious to us, that the best product market fit in the crypto space is money-related business. Hence our focus on DEX (trading of value), multi-chain wallet (storage of value) and Vite Pay (exchange of value for goods & services). And soon, we will be tackling DeFi as well, to facilitate decentralized borrowing and lending in the Vite ecosystem.
There was some mention of enterprise adoption. We have successfully co-authored with the American city of Syracuse a whitepaper and began a pilot program ("SyraCoin") with them. In relation to this, we recently visited New York State Assembly Member Ron Kim in his office, where we discussed with him the possibility of implementing his signature legislation proposal of Inclusive Value Ledger on the Vite platform, with the product resembling SyraCoin.
I hope my thoughts above are somewhat helpful to you. Of course, they won't change the coin price. But maybe, as I wishfully speculate, they will make a small difference in your understanding of the coin's value.
I do agree that our teammates and leadership can be more available in interacting with the community. Probably better to have more frequent short-form communication than this multi-paragraph rambling that I just managed to produce. I have communicated this to our marketing team and we will try to do better.
If it helps, I have become more active on Twitter (https://twitter.com/gentso09) these days. You are always welcome to interact with me publicly or DM me there.
And lastly, as I announced on Twitter, I will be making a podcast focused on blockchain debates, to supplement the vast amount of existing audio content that's all too often one-way communication, where speakers don't get enough push-back and audience members could use another perspective. I hope to network with crypto OGs, get Vite on the radar of other industry VIPs, and learn a thing or two during those conversations myself.
Regards,
Richard -

RE: Vite Labs Leadership AMA (May 21, 2020) - Leave your questions here!
Transcript of AMA by Richard Yan, COO of Vite in VITE English Telegram Group on May 21, 2020
Richard Yan (Vite Co-founder & COO)
Hey all! I'm here now.Richard Yan (Vite Co-founder & COO)
Happy to answer any questions you have.Richard Yan (Vite Co-founder & COO)
I see posting in the forum. So let me answer questions there first.--
SwissVite SBP
What is the state of the Vitelabs finances with the COVID episode, are you working on a new funding round?Richard Yan (Vite Co-founder & COO)
We are not actively working on a funding round. The Covid situation only prevented team members from returning to the office for work at the beginning of the year. But that situation has been ameliorated, as lockdowns have been gradually lifted. We are conscientious in managing our treasury and still allocating almost all expenses to R&D.

Makesushi
Firstly Thank you for taking the time to do this Richard, I really appreciate it.These are a few things i have noticed that could be improved:
-
I have noticed admins have to tell many users that the comment section is where to write the memo for binance it would save admins a lot of time if we just called comment => memo when sending vite or write both like this “Comment/memo” on sending transactions that way new users will not have that question as much and admins can focus on more important issues.
-
Seems like very little of the crypto community knows about vite/vx. What marketing is vite/vitex doing? And can you do more marketing? Are you planing any big marketing pushes?
-
My marketing recommendation is to pay 10 crypto youtubers to cover vite and vx and the passive income and fast free transactions, it will cost about 2500$ each and with that 25000$ you will have videos that will reach hundreds of thousands of people and will continue to get exposure for years to come, because youtube videos live for ever.
-
Referral code should be free or at most 1 vite, pricing it at 1000 vite so people can share your website is crazy, its making it difficult to grow. You want people to get a free referral code and when they do they will talk about vite/vitex and promote you. No other crypto project or general website charges to make a referral code. I understand that some people have paid 1000 vite to get these but its in the greater interest of vite/vitex to make these free, i recommend refunding 1000vite to those that paid and making it free.
Richard Yan (Vite Co-founder & COO)
[In reply to Makesushi]
Let me take a look at these questions
On #1 - If I understand correctly, you are saying the "comment" in the Vite wallet's send screen should be relabeled "comment/memo" or "memo." Correct? I think this makes sense. Let me check with our design teamOn #2 - We've done multiple types of marketing tactics in the past, but found them not to be cost-effective. These tactics included: Articles on Forbes and Distributed magazine via PR firms, campaigns in bitcointalk, sponsorships of meetups, ads on social media platforms.
Instead, what we found to be the most cost-effective is onboarding new coins, attracting members from communities of those coins, and letting the product do the talking.
Indeed, our ranking soared to #1 at one point on coingecko just about a week ago.
We're in the midst of a slow period for altcoins. So what you are observing may be just that effect
#3 - yes we also did youtube videos, but again, the cost-effectiveness doesn't seem to be there. We had videos with many top KOLs (boxmining, cryptolark, etc). We do still have a few that we work with actively. Blockchainbrad, for example. We might do another video with him again soon.
#4 - we can consider lowering the threshold for referrals, good suggestion.
Ok your feature requests are noted. Will check with our product team

Is there a plan to make the VX as stablecoin?Richard Yan (Vite Co-founder & COO)
[In reply to Lee Jose]
We have interest in creating a stablecoin on the Vite network. This requires working with a trust to integrate on the Vite network. And there is a negotiation process involved, which is a bit slow now.VX can't be a stablecoin because that was not the intention of the coin.

super
My questions are:- What are you (VITE labs) currently working on ?
- I talked a while ago about the SVIP pricing. My opinion is that it's way too much for this feature. A SVIP is equivalent to an SBP, i think it should be way lower to bring more traders that want to have 0% base transaction fee. Do you agree?
Richard Yan (Vite Co-founder & COO)
[In reply to super]-
ViteX liquidity bootstrapping, Vite Labs gateway coin selection, integration and maintenance. ViteX operator onboarding - a new Russian operator just joined (Chain Hedge). Vite.org website facelift. Re-structuring of ViteX gateway tech for third party use. ViteX API release after major code refactoring. And a few other things as in our biweekly reports.
-
We need to an analysis on this, to see if this makes sense. Thanks for raising this

How is everyone on the team? Are they all in good health? What you guys are doing is innovative and alot of crypto projects do not come close. Especially with the all inclusive vite wallet. Which has a dex, multi chain deposits and withdrawals, staking and much more. How do we get more people exposed to the vitelabs project and vite wallet.Richard Yan (Vite Co-founder & COO)

Can't find any paid advertising, Pr or marketing about Vite or VitexRichard Yan (Vite Co-founder & COO)
[In reply to Daniel]
We recruited in-house marketing professionals. We spent money on various China media: Here's an example of a tech article that went out to many Chinese outlets:These outlets are quite cost-effective. As mentioned earlier, we tried western media, but the ROI is weak.
Our customer acquisition strategy is still mostly in ViteX and multi-chain wallet.

Can Vite do community voting for coin listing? For the community to decide which coin to add ViteRichard Yan (Vite Co-founder & COO)
[In reply to Modеrn]
That's a fine idea. The challenge now is the shortage of great coins to be listed, because of conflicting qualities we seek in these coins. We need coins that have a strong community, but simultaneously haven't been picked up by a major exchange. Also, importantly, we need the target coin operator to be willing to co-market the listing (this is not always easy). We thought about making a list of coins that the community can vote on, but that list isn't very long to begin with.
We do still find great coins from time to time, however. There is a major one being worked on now.

Due to circumstances, some features or products will take priority over others.Aside from software development, we are now focusing a lot of time producing content to better tell our story and share our insights on the industry. It's our cost-effective, content-marketing strategy, if you will.

[In reply to Артём]
The point is that anyone can become a gateway. That's the best remedy now. We are also considering atomic swaps for more decentralized gateways, but there are tradeoffs there and will take time to figure out if they're worth it.--

Vite Developer Committee
We are creating a community-run Vite Developer Committee (“The Committee”) that will oversee the proposal, development, and reward of new projects on the Vite chain. Funding for project developers will be provided by Vite Labs.
The initial candidate pool of the Committee consists of community members to be invited directly by Vite Labs. These individuals include SBP owners, gateway operators, community managers, other long-time community members, and a few Members from Vite Labs.
A meeting with all the aforementioned candidates will be held, where we will discuss the rules and processes outlined in this document, suggestions for efficiently and effectively running the Committee, and ideas for Developer Bounties.

SBP Block Creation Issues on Feb 8 and 9 (Beijing time)
Vite Labs is aware of the instability in block creation by SBPs in the last few days. Initial investigation shows that this is caused by anomalies in the transaction data syncing process between nodes. Our engineering team is conducting further analyses.
In relation to this matter, we would like to mention a few points:
First, restarting the SBP server may solve the problem (indeed this already has done so for some). If this doesn’t work, please state as such in a reply to this post.
Second, please pay attention to the notification section of the block explorer and the forum. Any necessary upgrade to solve the block creation problem will be announced in these channels.
Thank you.

@SwissVite We are not actively working on a funding round. The Covid situation only prevented team members from returning to the office for work at the beginning of the year. But that situation has been ameliorated, as lockdowns have been gradually lifted. We are conscientious in managing our treasury and still allocating almost all expenses to R&D.
